The Mental Health Benefits Awareness Gap Study
Lincoln Financial and the Integrated Benefits Institute surveyed 1,503 US call-centre workers to examine why employer mental-health benefits go unused. The hook was the revealing gap between widespread access and low uptake, turning original workplace data into a case for better communication, manager training and more flexible support.
Why it worked: It flipped the expected narrative with fresh, specific prevalence-to-uptake data, quantifying a communication failure over coverage and naming fixable levers.
The lesson: Consider fielding a quick, segmented survey that exposes a counterintuitive gap (access vs. use), then prescribe three concrete fixes.
