The type of personal information we collect
We try to collect as little personal information as possible. We currently collect and process the following information:
- Your name and email address
- The name and email addresses of team members you invite
- Basic activity - (last login date)
- Subscription details
How we get the personal information and why we have it
All of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you.
We store your email address so that we can verify you're a real human, not a bot. We also need it so we can send you a password reset email if you forget your password.
If finchling.com were acquired, the information we store would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party.
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are: your consent (you are able to remove your consent at any time - you can contact us at [email protected]), and because we have a legitimate interest.
How we store your personal information
Your information is securely stored in a Hetzner database, and backed up to Cloudflare R2. Your chosen password is encrypted - although to be safe, we always recommend not reusing passwords, and to use a unique password when accessing Finchling.
We keep your email address and basic activity data for a maximum of 1 month after you request to close your account. We will then dispose of your information by permanently removing it from our databases.
Your data protection rights
Under data protection law, you have rights including:
- Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
- Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
