Side of Couch World Cup Sweepstake

PR Campaign
Wednesday 8th July, 2026

For the World Cup, Buffalo Wild Wings, Grubhub and Lovesac ran a limited sweepstake where US customers who spent $35+ ordering Buffalo Wild Wings on Grubhub and added a novelty “Side of Couch” item between July 10 and the promotion close were entered to win one of 26 Lovesac Sactional couches delivered before the Final. The added item itself doesn’t ship — it’s a playful entry mechanic to earn coverage and buzz around the match.

Why it worked: A fake menu item embedded in a high-traffic ordering moment (pre–World Cup matches) created a timely, screenshot-friendly, three-brand mashup worth covering.

The lesson: Consider inventing a cheeky “add-on” action inside a transaction people already do this week, unlocking a prize or upgrade for pressable novelty.

What is this?

Where does the data come from?

Finchling is a news monitoring tool that analyses lots of news from across the internet.

Does this track sponsored posts, or is it earned media only?

It's built to only track earned media - we use AI to filter out anything that we think is a sponsored placement.

What does "ranked by coverage" mean?

It's the number of articles. Simple as that. We're not weighting by outlet size or reach - just raw volume. The campaigns at the top are the ones generating the most stories right now.

If you've launched a PR campaign recently and it's not included in here, and you think it should be - drop us a note and we'll investigate.
