Camp Miasma Fan Camp
To promote *Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma*, MUBI leaned into the film’s summer-camp slasher world with themed workouts, a museum installation and an outdoor camping screening. Fans arrived in costume, made their own merch and repeatedly returned to screenings, turning the release into a participatory cult-film experience rather than a standard indie campaign.
Why it worked: It manufactured a visible, reportable scene by staging IRL rituals (campout screening, workout class, museum install) that fans then amplified online.
The lesson: Consider engineering a physical rite-of-passage event for superfans, then pitch outlets a photo-heavy, attendance-numbered “new subculture” moment.
