The Knife Angel
The British Ironwork Centre brought its 27ft Knife Angel sculpture, made from more than 100,000 seized blades, to Edinburgh for a month-long anti-violence programme. The striking public artwork gave partners a powerful, instantly visual way to start conversations about knife crime with families, schools and local communities.
Why it worked: It fused a shocking visual made from police-seized weapons with a fixed city-and-date window, creating an undeniable, localised news peg.
The lesson: Consider staging a time-limited public installation built from real, repurposed artifacts tied to your issue, then partner with officials for credibility.
