Pee-Powered Data Centre
Garage Beer and Liquid Death released a deliberately absurd musical video proposing urine as a cooling solution for water-hungry AI data centres. They extended the joke with a limited-edition sealable collection jar, while telling customers not to actually send their pee anywhere.
Why it worked: It hijacked a hot policy debate (AI data centers’ water waste) with a celebrity-fronted, taboo-breaking gag plus a purchasable prop, creating irresistible news hooks.
The lesson: Consider spoofing a current infrastructure or policy headache with a bold physical artifact and a simple, absurd call-to-action journalists can quote.
