Introducing Ideas, named experts, and alerts in Google Chat
5 Nov 2026 by Dave Peiris
We've shipped a few updates to Finchling recently, including one we've been looking forward to sharing for a while.
Finchling has always been good at finding PR opportunities. But we've been thinking about how it can help with the next step, too: coming up with ideas and turning them into campaigns worth pitching. Here's what's new.
Finchling can now come up with ideas for you
There's a new Ideas section in Finchling - you can see it in your nav bar.
As well as finding stories worth reacting to, Finchling will now occasionally suggest campaign ideas of its own. These aren't meant to be finished, ready-to-go campaigns - think of them instead as starting points.
Ideation is incredibly difficult when you're faced with a blank page. Our new Ideas section gives you inspiration, by showing you PR ideas that Finchling has come up with, based on opportunities that its discovered, that your team can explore, improve and turn into something great.
You can also add your own ideas, even if they're only half-formed. But here's where it gets interesting.
When you save or add an idea, Finchling helps you develop it further. It does some of the research for you, including:
Ways to strengthen your idea, by giving you suggestions for different angles or things to consider.
Journalists who might be interested, based on what they've previously written about.
Similar campaigns, so you can see whether other brands have launched anything that's close to it.
Relevant articles, so you can find research and news to help you build a stronger campaign.
Rather than starting from a blank page, you've got useful research and suggestions to help your team move an idea forward. And this works whether it's an idea you've added yourself or one that Finchling has come up with.
Tell Finchling who your experts are
We've also made Finchling better when it comes to suggesting expert comments.
You can now add named experts to your projects, along with the subjects they specialise in.
For example, if your client has a chief economist who specialises in the housing market, Finchling can take that into account when looking for opportunities. This helps Finchling recommend a highly relevant response from that spokesperson, on a topic they're qualified to talk about.
To add your named experts, go to your Project Settings page, go to "Advanced Settings", and look for the "Manage Experts" button.
It's a small change, but it should make the opportunities Finchling finds more relevant and easier to act on.
Google Chat alerts are here
Finally, we've added Google Chat to our integrations.
You've been able to get Finchling alerts in Slack for a while. Now, if your team uses Google Chat instead, you can get your PR opportunities (and suggested ideas!) delivered there too.
All three updates are live now - head into Finchling to try them out. We're particularly excited to see what you make of Ideas, and what your team comes up with.
