Ofgem energy price cap review (July change)
Wednesday 1st July, 2026
Ofgem’s quarterly review will reset the energy price cap on 1 July 2026, likely raising default tariff household energy bills by about 12–14% across Great Britain as higher wholesale gas prices feed through. This matters to Rightmove because higher energy bills influence household affordability, rental demand and moving decisions, and gives you a chance to comment on cost-of-living pressures and housing market affordability in the UK.
Why have we flagged this?
Clear, timely link to household affordability and moving decisions gives Rightmove strong reactive and proactive angles — comment on affordability, rental demand shifts, data-led analysis of search and listing trends, and practical guidance for movers and landlords would land well.
