Graduated Driver Licensing rollout in Northern Ireland
Thursday 1st October, 2026
Northern Ireland will introduce a statutory Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) system from 1 October 2026, bringing staged learning, mandatory training and logbooks, plus temporary post-qualification restrictions for new and young drivers to reduce collisions. This gives you a chance to talk about child and teen safety, family travel and learning-through-play themes in Northern Ireland—Lego naturally fits the conversation around safe, educational tools that help prepare young people for responsible independence.
Why have we flagged this?
Strong alignment: GDL focuses on teen safety, learning and family preparation—areas where Lego can credibly contribute with safety-themed sets, educational content about responsibility, or family-focused campaigns and spokespeople on play-based learning for older kids in Northern Ireland.
