European Commission decision on Google/Alphabet DMA non-compliance
Monday 27th July, 2026
The European Commission has opened formal proceedings against Alphabet/Google under the Digital Markets Act, saying its search services may not be meeting obligations on interoperability and sharing search-data, and has sent preliminary findings and proposed remedies ahead of a final decision by 27 July 2026. This gives Lego’s PR team a chance to note the regulatory push for fairer data sharing and interoperability in EU digital services—issues that affect how parents, kids and fans discover and interact with Lego content and ecommerce across Europe and the UK.
Why have we flagged this?
Lego can credibly comment on how fairer search/data sharing and interoperability improve discoverability of its content, e‑commerce and safety controls for families across Europe; a well-timed data story or expert comment from Lego on how better data portability benefits parents and kids could gain coverage.
