Erasmus+ programme reopening in the UK
Friday 1st January, 2027
The EU and UK have agreed that the UK will re‑join the Erasmus+ mobility scheme from 1 January 2027, restoring student and staff exchange, training placements and youth programmes between the UK and EU that were suspended after Brexit. This gives Airbnb a chance to talk about the travel and accommodation needs of tens of thousands of returning UK and EU participants—students, interns and visiting staff—affecting bookings, longer‑stay demand and host opportunities across the UK and Europe.
Why have we flagged this?
Clear, timely alignment with travel and accommodation demand: returning Erasmus+ exchanges will drive long‑stay bookings, host opportunities and student‑focused product stories across the UK and EU that Airbnb can both proactively campaign around (student housing guides, host targeting, partnerships with universities) and react to (data on bookings, comment on readiness and safety).
