European Travel Information and Authorisation System (Etias) launch
Thursday 1st October, 2026
ETIAS is an EU electronic pre-travel authorisation that will require visa‑exempt non‑EU visitors to obtain online approval before short stays in participating European countries, launching in late 2026 with a transitional period before it becomes mandatory. This gives Airbnb a chance to talk about travel planning and guest readiness — particularly for hosts and travellers in the UK and across Europe who will need to factor ETIAS into booking timelines and arrival preparations.
Why have we flagged this?
Strong alignment — ETIAS changes booking and arrival processes for many guests, so Airbnb can run proactive campaigns (reminders, booking timelines, partnership content) and react with guidance, host FAQs and data on booking windows to lead the conversation.
